Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority split into three new departments

KARACHI, Aug 13: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been divided into three distinct departments, as per a recent notification. This division aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency within the organization.
According to the notification, the regulatory functions of the CAA will remain intact, continuing under the umbrella of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. However, commercial airport operations have been segregated to form a new entity named the Pakistan Airports Authority. This strategic move is expected to bring a sharper focus to airport management and commercial activities.
Furthermore, the third newly established department is the Board of Safety Investigation, which will be dedicated solely to probing aircraft accidents. This separation underscores the importance of independent and thorough investigations into aviation incidents.
Additional notifications have also been issued to formalize the creation of these new entities. The CAA will continue to oversee critical areas such as Flight Standards, Pilot Licensing, and Aerodrome Airspace management, along with Airworthiness, Air Transport, and Aeromedical services.
This restructuring marks a pivotal change in Pakistan’s aviation sector, with the potential to significantly impact the industry's regulatory and operational landscape.
