Pakistan Condemns Israeli Strike on Gaza’s Baptist Hospital, Calls for Global Action

Pakistan has strongly denounced the Israeli airstrike on Gaza’s Baptist Hospital, terming it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and part of a broader pattern of targeting civilian infrastructure.

Attack on Hospital Sparks Outrage

In an official statement released on Tuesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the bombing of the hospital by Israeli forces. The attack occurred on Palm Sunday, a holy occasion for Christians, adding to the gravity of the incident.

“The attack on such a sacred day underscores Israel’s blatant disregard for religious sanctity and civilian lives,” Khan stated.

Healthcare System in Crisis

The spokesperson emphasized that Israel’s continued military operations have severely damaged Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure. Hospitals are struggling to provide even basic services due to repeated strikes and an ongoing blockade on humanitarian supplies.

“Israel’s relentless assaults have crippled Gaza’s healthcare system, depriving critically ill patients of vital medical care,” he said. “Coupled with the blockade on humanitarian aid, these actions reflect a deliberate strategy to prolong suffering and entrench conflict.”

Call for Ceasefire and Accountability

Pakistan called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for violations of human rights and humanitarian law.

“Pakistan demands an immediate end to Israel’s ongoing atrocities, which have resulted in the indiscriminate killing of innocent and unarmed Palestinians, including women and children,” the statement read.

Support for Two-State Solution

Reiterating its long-standing position, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem) as the capital of a sovereign Palestinian state.

“We urge global stakeholders to take decisive action to protect Palestinian civilians and to uphold international norms and justice,” Khan added.
