Pakistan expresses full support for the Arab League’s Gaza reconstruction plan

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the Arab League’s proposal to reconstruct Gaza, which is to be governed by the Palestinian Authority. He expressed this stance during an Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Jeddah.
Condemnation of Israel’s Actions and Emphasis on International Law
Dar stressed that, in addition to the reconstruction efforts, it is crucial for Israel to cease its ongoing actions against the Palestinian people and to comply with international laws. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to standing with the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the importance of adhering to global justice and peace.
OIC’s Backing of Arab League’s Proposal
The OIC’s meeting on Friday endorsed the Arab League’s counter-proposal to US President Donald Trump’s controversial plan to control Gaza. This proposal, developed by Egypt, suggests rebuilding Gaza under Palestinian Authority governance. The OIC’s decision came just days after the Arab League ratified this plan in Cairo.
The Global Push for a Unified Approach
While the Arab League’s plan excludes a role for Hamas, which currently controls Gaza, it is seen as an attempt to create a more stable and internationally recognized governance structure. The next step, as noted by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, is to garner global support for the plan, including backing from the EU, Japan, Russia, China, and potentially the United States.
