Pakistan Sports Board Imposes Lifetime Ban on Boxing Federation Officials Over Missing Boxers Scandal

ISLAMABAD, Sep 24: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has imposed a lifetime ban on the President and Secretary of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) following an inquiry into the disappearance of Pakistani boxers abroad.

The PSB's Board of Governors approved the lifetime ban on PBF President Khalid Mahmood and Secretary Nasir Tung, acting on the recommendations of an inquiry committee. The committee had conducted an investigation into the incident and found both officials responsible.

Khalid Mahmood, who also serves as the Secretary of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), now faces uncertainty regarding his position at the POA following the ban.

The scandal erupted after multiple Pakistani boxers went missing during international events. Two boxers disappeared in England during the Commonwealth Games, while another boxer fled with his passport during a boxing event in Italy.

The PSB's decision marks a significant move to hold officials accountable for the incidents, which have raised concerns about the management of athletes representing Pakistan abroad.
