Pakistan-Turkmenistan Transit Trade Agreement nearing completion: Commerce Minister

ISLAMABAD, April 03 : Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that the transit trade agreement between Pakistan and Turkmenistan is nearing completion, promising substantial benefits for both nations. The statement came after a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Atajan Movlamov, on Wednesday.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on enhancing bilateral trade relations and strengthening commercial ties. Minister Jam Kamal emphasized the need to bolster bilateral trade relations with Turkmenistan, foreseeing a significant increase in trade volume.
The discussions also revolved around exploring new avenues for trade and boosting commercial activities through transit trade agreements. Ambassador Movlamov proposed offering discounted electricity rates to Pakistan in exchange for local produce, and both parties agreed to further collaboration in energy sectors such as LNG and electricity.
