Pakistani Boxer Waseem Faces Uncertainty for Malta Fight Due to Delayed Passport
KARACHI: Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem's participation in an upcoming World Boxing Federation (WBF) bantamweight title fight in Malta is in jeopardy due to a delay in receiving his passport from the Danish embassy.
According to media reports, Waseem submitted his passport for a Danish visa on July 22, but it has yet to be returned. The delay is impacting his training camp as he prepares for the fight scheduled for October 4 in Malta.
In a plea posted on social media platform X, Waseem has appealed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for assistance in retrieving his passport from the embassy. He expressed frustration over the potential disruption to his preparation for the international title match.
Waseem emphasized that without his passport, he is unable to finalize his plans for the crucial fight, risking his opportunity to compete for the global title.
