Pakistan’s Pavilion Attracts Visitors at 9th China-South Asia Expo

Pakistan’s pavilion at the 9th China-South Asia Expo in Kunming has drawn significant attention, showcasing a diverse range of local products such as fresh fruits, pink Himalayan salt, handicrafts, and precious stones. The event highlighted the growing trade ties between Pakistan and China, supported by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Streamlined Trade Boosts Pakistani Exhibitors

Pakistani traders attending the Expo praised the improved logistics and trade facilitation that have made exporting to China more efficient. “It’s now quite easy to ship goods from Pakistan to China,” said Faisal, a trader at the event. “From Karachi to major Chinese cities, we can deliver shipments within 15 days. Tariffs are low, and customs clearance at ports like Huangpu and Tianjin has been very efficient.”

Exhibitors also acknowledged the support provided by Expo organizers and local authorities, noting the smooth handling of sea freight and overall event management. “Help is coming from all directions,” remarked another participant, emphasizing the seamless experience provided by the event.

Understanding the Chinese Market Is Key

Alam, a gemstone and jade merchant, stressed the importance for Pakistani businesses to better understand Chinese consumer preferences and cultural nuances. “Pakistani businesses must study Chinese consumer behavior and cultural values. For example, understanding the symbolism of jade or zodiac signs like ‘Pisces’ is crucial to tailor our products for local appeal,” he explained.

Expo’s Expanding Platform for Regional Trade

This year’s Expo featured over 2,500 enterprises from 73 countries and international organizations, reflecting its rapid growth since launching in 2013. The exhibition space has expanded from 50,000 to 160,000 square meters spread over 16 halls, underscoring the event’s increasing significance as a platform for promoting regional cooperation and trade.

The presence and popularity of Pakistani products at the Expo signal a positive trajectory for bilateral trade under the broader framework of CPEC, encouraging further collaboration between the two nations.
