PESHAWAR, April 06: The Peshawar City Traffic Police has intensified its efforts to combat traffic congestion through a week-long crackdown on encroachment and illegal parking.
During these operations, a significant number of offenders were identified and penalized. A total of 492 individuals were fined for illegally occupying public spaces, hindering traffic flow and pedestrian movement.
The enforcement drive also targeted motorcycle owners who disregard designated parking zones. Over 1,800 motorcyclists were booked for parking their vehicles in unauthorized areas within nine designated parking zones across the city. These areas include Khushal Bazaar, Sarki Gate, Namak Mandi, and the vicinity of Bloor Plaza in the Cantonment sector.
Peshawar's Chief Traffic Officer, Qamar Saud Khan, has issued a stern warning to motorists and residents. He emphasized that the City Traffic Police will continue to take strict legal action against those who violate traffic regulations and contribute to urban congestion. This crackdown underscores the importance of adhering to designated parking zones and respecting public spaces for a smoother traffic flow in Peshawar.
