PM reiterate Federal Govt to Purchase 1.8 Million Metric Tons Wheat to support farmers
LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif spearheaded a crucial emergency meeting to address the challenges encountered by farmers in wheat procurement, signaling a proactive stance towards resolving agricultural concerns and ensuring farmers' welfare.
Federal Ministers Rana Tanveer Hussain, Attaullah Tarar, and pertinent senior officials were in attendance, where detailed discussions centered on the progress of wheat procurement initiatives were conducted.
Expressing deep concern over the reported hurdles faced by farmers in accessing wheat procurement facilities, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued directives for government officers to intensify monitoring efforts in this regard. He announced the federal government's commitment to procure 1.8 million metric tons of wheat through PASCO, aimed at maximizing benefits for farmers.
In a significant move aimed at addressing farmers' concerns and streamlining wheat procurement processes, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced the establishment of the Ministry of National Food Security Committee. This committee has been tasked with ensuring farmers' convenience and promptly addressing their grievances. It has been mandated to take concrete steps to alleviate farmers' concerns within the next four days.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif emphasized the pivotal role of farmers in the agricultural sector, stressing that their hard work deserves timely compensation. He expressed gratitude for the bumper wheat crop this year, attributing it to divine blessings.
Asserting his unwavering commitment to safeguarding farmers' economic security, Shahbaz Sharif vowed to prevent any negligence that could compromise their well-being.
