PM Shahbaz Sharif orders action plan for PASCO privatization

ISLAMABAD, July 12: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has called for a comprehensive action plan to address the privatization of PASCO and improve agricultural productivity.
In a recent meeting chaired by PM Sharif, key issues related to the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and PASCO were discussed. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for effective measures to enhance wheat and crop production.
Shahbaz Sharif instructed the inclusion of farmers' representatives in the vetting board and directed that representatives from the Land Information and Management System and Sparco also be added to the board.
The Prime Minister also mandated the development of a detailed action plan for PASCO's privatization. He urged the formulation of an alternative strategy for wheat procurement and called for consultations with provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and other relevant institutions.
This strategic approach aims to streamline PASCO’s privatization process and bolster the country's agricultural sector.
