PM Shehbaz Sharif calls for enhanced regional connectivity and cooperation at SCO meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing the 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government in Islamabad, emphasized the need for greater regional connectivity, poverty alleviation, climate action, and economic collaboration to build a prosperous and integrated region. He highlighted the importance of expanding infrastructure projects such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the International North-South Transport Corridor.

Sharif also stressed the need for stability in Afghanistan, urging humanitarian support and anti-terrorism measures. He called for environmental cooperation within the SCO, the reform of global financial systems, and fostering private sector collaboration. Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a stronger SCO for regional development and cultural exchange.
