PML-N forms committee to lure Independent Candidates and Coalition Partners
LAHORE, Feb 10: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has taken proactive steps towards forming government post-general elections, forming a committee tasked with reaching out to successful independent candidates. Notable figures such as Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah, and Ayaz Sadiq have been enlisted in this committee.
Under the directives of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, the committee aims to extend invitations to independent members, assuring them of inclusion in future government formation processes. Efforts are underway to bolster PML-N's ranks and secure a substantial role in governing Punjab and potentially at the federal level.
Shehbaz Sharif has initiated discussions with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema Islam (F), exploring the prospects of forming a joint government in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as at the federal level. Additionally, he extended an invitation for a formal meeting to further deliberate on key issues.
Furthermore, Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a telephonic conversation with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, congratulating him on their electoral success and discussing the government formation process at the federal level.
In a significant development, Rose, spokesperson for PML-N, announced plans for a coalition government in light of the absence of a clear majority in the general elections. Shehbaz Sharif has been entrusted with the responsibility of meeting with key political figures including former President Asif Ali Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui to pave the way for a cohesive government formation strategy.
