Police arrest wanted suspect in encounter near Sargodha.
SARGODHA, Jan 18: A police encounter near Bhikar resulted in the apprehension of a suspected robber, identified as Amir alias Kalia, on Wednesday.
According to the Assistant Regional Police Officer (ARPO) Shariq Kamal Sadiqi, Kalia was wanted in numerous cases, including 46 registered in the Bhikar district.
The incident unfolded when police officers stationed at a checkpoint near Imamwali Colony approached two motorcycle riders, who subsequently opened fire. In the ensuing encounter, one suspect was apprehended while the other managed to flee on his motorcycle. Kalia, injured during the encounter, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Following the incident, ARPO Sadiqi requested a detailed report from the District Police Officer (DPO) of Bhikar. Additionally, special teams under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Badar Munir Saddr Circle have been formed to track down the absconding suspect.
Currently, a search operation is underway in the vicinity of the encounter to apprehend the remaining suspect. Authorities haven't yet revealed the specific charges against Kalia or the nature of the "advertising" cases mentioned in the initial reports.
