Police halts Daniel Aziz,s political gathering in Shakargarh
NAROWAL, Jan 18: The Shakargarh police and administration halted an election gathering of Daniel Aziz, a former PML-N leader and independent candidate for NA-75, on grounds of not obtaining approval for the event.
According to details, Daniel Aziz, denied a ticket by the PML-N, organized his first electoral gathering in Shakargarh after being snubbed. However, the police promptly intervened, shutting down the event before it could kick off.
Law enforcement removed the stage and chairs from the venue, and even turned off the lights and sound system.
Authorities stated that Daniel Aziz conducted the gathering without permission, leading to the disruption of the program. DSP Circle Rai Ehsan emphasized that, in the current security situation, obtaining a permit is mandatory for any political event.
After the administrative action, Daniel Aziz, accompanied by his associates, attempted negotiations at the venue but was unsuccessful. Authorities asserted that "without permission, no political party or candidate can hold a gathering."
Daniel Aziz assured that they would obtain permission and conduct the meeting at the same venue, abiding by electoral ethics. It is noteworthy that Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has been nominated by the PML-N for NA-75, replacing Daniel Aziz as an independent candidate.
