Police Resume Crackdown on 282 individuals Linked to May 9 riots

Lahore, Lahore Police has initiated a crackdown to apprehend 282 advertisers who managed to evade arrest on May 9. The operations and investigation wing teams have been reinvigorated to pursue individuals associated with the May 9 tragedy ad and other offenses.

According to media reports, on the aftermath of May 9 events, Lahore Police had previously registered 14 cases of terrorism and 49 cases under other serious provisions. Initial arrests resulted in 1035 accused in terrorism cases and 884 accused in other cases. Subsequently, 741 accused found their way into judicial custody, while 318 were held in Hawalat judicial custody for other cases.

However, as per police statements, the remaining accused either secured bail or were discharged from their cases, prompting Lahore Police to launch a fresh crackdown against those still at large.

Lahore Police officials revealed that, based on ongoing investigations, there are an additional 382 suspects yet to be apprehended. Raids are actively being conducted to bring these individuals to justice.
