PPP Not Currently Considering Federal Cabinet Role: Sharjeel Memon

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon clarified on Monday that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is not presently evaluating any proposal to join the federal government.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon stated that no official offer had been extended by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding PPP’s inclusion in the ruling coalition.
“If such a proposal is made in the future, the party might consider it,” he added.
Comments on PTI and Imran Khan
Memon also commented on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), acknowledging its role in the national political landscape. However, he emphasized the importance of abiding by legal and constitutional principles.
“Courts must function according to the constitution and law, not personal desires,” he said.
He criticized PTI founder Imran Khan’s political approach, urging him to shift from what he termed “negative politics” to constructive engagement, and accused the party of harming Pakistan’s image both domestically and abroad.
Swat Tragedy: Accountability, Not Politics
On the recent tragic incident in Swat, Memon called for a thorough investigation into administrative lapses. However, he cautioned against politicizing the tragedy or making demands for the removal of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister.
“Accountability must take place, but political point-scoring must be avoided,” he stressed.
Call for Responsible Political Conduct
The minister reiterated the need for all political parties to contribute to national stability through mature and responsible dialogue. He urged leaders across the spectrum to respect judicial decisions and prioritize governance over confrontation.
