President of PHF resigns, Tariq Hussain Bugti nominated as successor

LAHORE, Feb 03: The President of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), retired Brigadier Khalid Sajjad Khokhar has officially resigned from his position. Khokhar, who held the post for 8 years and 4 months, stepped down, paving the way for a change in leadership.
Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, acting as the Patron-in-Chief Caretaker of Hockey, promptly announced the nomination of Tariq Hussain Bugti as Khokhar's successor. Formal notification of Bugti's nomination is expected shortly.
The announcement comes amid a legal dispute initiated by Khokhar when Tariq Hussain Bugti was appointed as the ad-hoc President of PHF on December 21, following the caretaker Prime Minister's instructions. Although the case is currently under review, Khokhar's resignation opens the door for a constitutional nomination.
Sources reveal that a new summary, approved by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and Sports Board, aligns with Khokhar's resignation. Upon the issuance of Bugti's official notification, he will constitutionally assume the role of President of Pakistan Hockey Federation, subject to a vote of confidence from the Congress within the next 10 days.
