Privatization Commission approves pre-qualification committee for PIA acquisition
ISLAMABAD, April 05 : The Privatization Commission has approved a pre-qualification committee to scrutinize the eligibility, bid leverage and expression of interest requests of companies seeking to purchase Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
This committee, authorized by the Privatization Commission Board under the leadership of Federal Minister for Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, will be responsible for scrutinizing the eligibility, financial proposals (including bid leverage), and expressions of interest submitted by potential buyers of PIA.
The announcement follows meetings held on April 2nd and 4th, where Minister Khan emphasized the improved investment potential of PIA after its restructuring, which removes liabilities and debts from its financial standing.
This development marks a significant advancement in the government's efforts to privatize PIA and revitalize the national carrier. The Pre-Qualification Committee will play a vital role in ensuring a transparent and competitive bidding process, ultimately leading to the selection of a qualified buyer for PIA.
