PTI Founder's security expenditure soars to 12 Lakh Rupees Monthly: Advocate General
LAHORE, April 03: During a hearing in the Lahore High Court regarding a petition filed to ensure full security for PTI founder, Advocate General Punjab provided crucial insights. The Advocate General disclosed that the founder of PTI is incurring an expenditure of 12 lakh rupees monthly while incarcerated. Despite the standard ratio of one security officer per ten inmates in Adiala Jail, 14 security personnel have been appointed solely for the founder of PTI, ensuring heightened security measures.
Notably, the former prime minister's meals are exclusively prepared in a special kitchen, dedicated solely to his dietary requirements. Moreover, arrangements include reserving six adjacent cells surrounding the founder's cell, totaling seven cells allocated for his use. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed specifically for monitoring his activities, with an expenditure of 5 lakh rupees.
Responding to the Advocate General's statements, PTI founder's lawyer expressed contentment with the security arrangements highlighted. However, concerns were raised regarding visitation rights, with the founder's wife filing an application on this matter.
Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan emphasized the significance of the issue, underscoring the need for discretion in handling security matters. He acknowledged the petitioner's respect and PTI's widespread support but emphasized the need for caution.
The court adjourned further proceedings on the petition concerning the security of PTI founder until after Eid, citing the complexity and sensitivity of the matter.
