PTI leader alleges recent judicial decisions spoiled by illegal practices

LAHORE, Feb 02: Senior jurist and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Hamid Khan, expressed deep concern over what he described as unprecedented oppression in the current political landscape.

While talking to media in Lahore on Friday, Khan specifically addressed the situation involving Dr. Yasmin Rashid, a senior politician and cancer patient, contesting elections against Mian Nawaz Sharif on behalf of PTI.

Hamid Khan praised Dr. Yasmeen for her principled and courageous stance, emphasizing that subjecting her to late-night hearings contradicts the principles of justice. Criticizing the judiciary, Khan asserted that it is failing in its duty to provide justice and should take suo motu action against injustices. He raised concerns about the higher judiciary's performance, stating that they are not adequately fulfilling their role, even overseeing intra-party elections on the Supreme Court's order. Khan expressed dissatisfaction with recent court decisions, particularly those handed down by what he referred to as a "Kangaroo Court," condemning their handling of cases, such as the one involving alleged use of firearms.

Additionally, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a central leader of PTI, joined the chorus of criticism against the judiciary, claiming that legal proceedings are being conducted in unlawful ways. Speaking outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar highlighted the denial of opportunities for PTI lawyers despite their consistent presence in court. He pointed out irregularities in the judge's handling of evidence, including the display of statements on a mobile phone. Barrister Gohar criticized the judge's misrepresentation of PTI lawyers in the judgment, alleging that they are not being given a fair chance, and some lawyers continued to appear against them as part of the prosecution team.

The PTI leaders collectively argue that recent judicial decisions are marred by illegal practices and demand a reevaluation of the fairness and transparency of the legal processes involved.
