PTI leader warns no defections tolerated, PM post belongs to PTI
ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and senior lawyer Hamid Khan has emphasized that while the prime ministerial position belongs to PTI, the ultimate decision rests with Imran Khan. Speaking to the media outside the Islamabad High Court, Khan underscored the party's determination to maintain its majority and hold sway over government formation.
Khan warned that any defection from PTI's winning candidates would not be tolerated, emphasizing the party's commitment to its elected members. He reiterated PTI's rightful claim to form the government, citing victories in the national and provincial assemblies despite allegations of rigging in Punjab.
Meanwhile, Barrister Gohar clarified that PTI has no intention of forming a coalition government with Pakistan People's Party or Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He asserted PTI's plan to establish governments at the federal, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa levels.
Addressing the issue of independent candidates, Barrister Gohar stated that they would align themselves with PTI under the direction of Imran Khan. He expressed optimism about PTI's electoral performance, highlighting the party's potential to secure around 150 seats and form the government.
In electoral updates, Chairman of PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan clinched victory in National Assembly Constituency NA-10 Buner with over 110,000 votes. This victory solidifies PTI's position in the parliamentary landscape, amidst ongoing developments in the political arena.
As per unofficial results, PTI-backed independent candidates lead in the National Assembly with 100 seats, followed by PML-N with 72 seats and Pakistan People's Party with 54 seats. The evolving political landscape reflects a shifting dynamic in the wake of the 2024 general elections.
