PTI Secures Permission to Contest Elections with 'Bat' Symbol Following Peshawar High Court Decision
Peshawar, January 10, 2024: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been granted approval to participate in elections using the 'bat' symbol, as the Peshawar High Court ruled on the case related to PTI's intra-party election and election symbol.
A hearing led by Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice Syed Arshad Ali at the Peshawar High Court addressed petitions challenging the intra-party election, ultimately favoring PTI. The High Court overturned the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) decision on December 22, which had initially declared the PTI intra-party elections null and void, resulting in the withdrawal of the election symbol.
The recent decision provides PTI with the green light to contest elections with the 'bat' symbol, reinstating their eligibility for political participation.
