Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Accuses PTI of Anarchy and Planning May 9 Violence

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sharply criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing the party of orchestrating and facilitating violent activities on May 9.

In a statement, Nawaz described PTI not as a political party but as an "anarchic group" intent on destabilizing the state through deliberate chaos. She alleged that confessions from the accused reveal PTI’s involvement in planning and executing the May 9 disturbances.

Nawaz further claimed that Zaman Park served as a "training headquarters" for militants, where training was conducted to create petrol bombs and launch attacks on state institutions. She condemned the attacks on military installations, Air Force planes, the corps commander's house, and the desecration of martyrs' memorials as part of a broader conspiracy to undermine Pakistan’s stability.

Highlighting past grievances, Nawaz accused PTI of attempts to discredit Pakistan's relationships with friendly countries, undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and sabotage high-level diplomatic visits. She called for decisive action against what she termed a "conspiratorial" group, emphasizing the need to uphold national security and constitutional order.
