Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz approves Digital Monitoring System for waste management

LAHORE, April 03: Punjab, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given the green light approval to implement a digital monitoring system for solid waste management. Additionally, stringent directives have been issued to eradicate littering in streets and markets.

Under the supervision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a special meeting was convened to assess the province-wide implementation of the solid waste management system. The meeting was attended by senior provincial ministers including Maryam Aurangzeb, Pervez Rashid, and Azma Zahid Bukhari, along with key officials such as MPAs, secretaries, commissioners, deputy commissioners of Lahore, and representatives from the Waste Management Company.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed that significant measures would be taken to ensure effective waste segregation at transfer stations, covering both organic and inorganic waste. Plans were unveiled to establish 23 landfill sites and 66 transfer stations across the province to streamline waste disposal processes.

Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz directed to scrutinize the performance of financially supported waste management companies, emphasizing transparency in outsourcing waste management tasks. She entrusted Provincial Minister Zaeem Rafique with the responsibility of monitoring outsourcing transparency in solid waste management.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of cleanliness and vowed to crack down on littering activities across streets and markets. She stressed the need for strict enforcement of cleanliness regulations without any compromise, ensuring that vehicles involved in waste collection adhere to high standards of cleanliness.

Maryam Nawaz concluded by asserting her readiness to personally inspect any location in the city to evaluate cleanliness and organization efforts. She reaffirmed that there would be no leniency towards those found violating cleanliness regulations, underscoring the government's unwavering commitment to cleanliness and orderliness.
