Punjab Govt approves tourist glass train project from Rawalpindi to Murree
LAHORE, June 30 : Lahore: Under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, a significant 5-hour meeting was convened where senior provincial minister Maryam Aurangzeb presented a detailed briefing on the Murree development project.
The meeting saw the approval of the Murree development plan, focusing on beautification, transport upgrades, construction projects, and the introduction of the Rawalpindi to Murree tourist glass train project.
A crucial decision was made to engage an international consultant for the Rawalpindi to Murree tourist glass train project, aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure and offering a unique experience to travelers.
Another notable decision was to restore the original names of cities, areas, and historical buildings across Murree. Plans were also set in motion to relocate high-rise hotel buildings from Mall Road to preserve the natural beauty of the area. The relocation of the famous GPO Chowk hotel to an alternative site was also agreed upon, along with implementing a uniform appearance and color scheme for all historical buildings on Mall Road.
In a move to streamline construction regulations, the authority to approve amendments to building rules in Murree will now reside at the provincial level, facilitating efficient development processes.
These decisions reflect Punjab government's commitment to revitalizing Murree as a premier tourist destination while preserving its rich heritage and natural landscapes.
