Punjab is anticipated to experience another round of monsoon rains

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning about an impending monsoon spell set to impact the province. According to the PDMA spokesperson, this new round of rain will begin on August 25 and continue until August 29.

The forecast predicts widespread rainfall across all divisions in Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Gujrat. The PDMA’s alert highlights a serious risk of flash flooding, particularly in the Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Bahawalpur divisions due to the anticipated heavy rains. There is also concern about potential flooding in the Koh-e-Kirthar and Koh-e-Suleman regions.

In response, the PDMA has urged commissioners, deputy commissioners, and various agencies such as the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA), the irrigation department, and rescue and civil defense teams to stay vigilant and prepared to handle any emergencies that might arise.

Director General Irfan Kathiya has also made a heartfelt appeal to the public, urging them to avoid organizing religious gatherings in unsafe, deteriorating buildings during the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (A.S). This precaution aims to ensure the safety of attendees amidst the challenging weather conditions.
