Punjab launches cattle helpline, dial 1233 for market info & more

LAHORE, June 03: The government has established a dedicated helpline (1233) and announced plans to build modern cattle markets across the province.
The helpline, overseen by the Punjab Cattle Market Management and Development Company, will address public inquiries and complaints related to the 121 existing cattle markets in Punjab. This includes information on market timings, facilities, and potentially cattle purchase information as well.
Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq revealed that the government is taking significant steps to modernize the cattle market system. He highlighted the introduction of a payment-on-delivery facility for online cattle purchases, aiming for a more convenient and secure buying experience.
Furthermore, Minister Rafiq announced the construction of 20 model cattle markets under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. These state-of-the-art facilities are expected to improve hygiene, infrastructure, and overall efficiency of the cattle trade.
The Minister also mentioned plans to establish model cattle markets along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, indicating a focus on integrating the livestock sector with this major development project. These initiatives suggest the Punjab government's commitment to streamlining and strengthening the cattle market infrastructure in the province.
