Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department arrest 6 hunters for Illegal Hunting
GUJRANWALA, May 14: The Wildlife and Parks Department of Punjab executed a successful operation resulting in the arrest of 6 hunters across Gujranwala, Kolorkot and Cholistan. The operation led to the recovery of 5 live and 7 slaughtered pheasants, along with the confiscation of 4 hunting dogs. Each offender was fined 200,000 rupees for their unlawful activities. Deputy Director Wildlife Asim Bashir Cheema of the Gujranwala Region initiated the crackdown after receiving confidential information via WhatsApp about illegal hunting activities in the Gujranwala Cantt area. A case was settled with a fine of Rs. 60,000. In Bhakkar, Assistant Director Wildlife Muhammad Naeem Tahir and his team seized 5 brown pheasants, subsequently transferring them to Mini Zoo Bhakkar as per court order. Similarly, Assistant Director Bahawalpur Qasim Raza and his team intercepted two hunters in Cholistan, recovering 7 slaughtered pheasants, along with hunting equipment and vehicles. The accused were fined a total of one and a half lakh rupees. These operations mark significant strides in the protection of wildlife in Punjab.
