Rawalpindi Police Launches Regular School Classes for Transgender Individuals
RAWALPINDI, Rawalpindi Police has initiated regular school classes exclusively designed for transgender individuals, marking a historic step towards inclusive education.
The specialized classes are being conducted at Islamia Higher Secondary School in Liaquat Bagh, and the district administration, in collaboration with the education department, has provided crucial support for the establishment of this pioneering transgender school.
This initiative, a first of its kind in Pakistan, demonstrates a significant commitment to addressing the educational needs of transgender individuals. Rawalpindi Police has not only introduced regular classes for transgender students but has also established the country's first Transgender School, akin to the Tahafuz Transgender Center.
At present, 52 transgender individuals are enrolled in the school, receiving elementary education that holds the promise of transforming their lives. The primary objective of this school is to ensure that transgender individuals have access to the fundamental right of education, contributing to their personal development and enabling them to become more productive members of society.
The school aims to equip transgender students with the knowledge and understanding of societal norms and religious values, fostering a sense of inclusion and empowerment. Education is considered a pivotal step towards securing decent employment opportunities, thereby elevating the socio-economic status of the transgender community.
Notably, the transgender students are integrated into regular classes, fostering a sense of equality and normalcy within the educational environment. Rawalpindi Police has implemented comprehensive measures to protect and uphold the rights of transgender individuals, extending beyond education to employment opportunities.
Through the Tahafuz Transgender Center, Rawalpindi Police has successfully provided jobs and dignified employment to more than 100 transgender individuals, furthering their commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive society.
