Retired SSP's House Burglarized, Thieves Escape with Cash and Jewelry Worth Rs. 4.4 Million

Karachi: Police said that suspects broke into the residence of a retired SSP in Defence Phase 8, Faisal Street, stealing 25 tolas of gold jewelry and other valuables. An investigation has been initiated following the filing of a case.

Ghulam Sarwar Abro, a resident of Sahil police station limits, reported that on the 9th of April, he had visited his ancestral village for Eid celebrations. Upon returning on the 10th of April around noon, he discovered that his house had been burglarized.

"My son, Affan, returned home around 11 PM and found the bedroom locks broken. The lockers were open, and the proceeds from the sale of my wife's jewelry, amounting to Rs. 4.4 million, were missing," said Abro. He added that his son noticed the broken lock and discovered that the jewelry, including bracelets and necklaces, weighing approximately 25 tolas, along with his son's identification card and a CCTV router, were also missing.

In addition to the stolen items, other belongings were also taken by the culprits. The police are gathering information from children in the area. Following the retired SSP's statement, Sahil police filed a case (FIR No. 78/2024) against unidentified suspects under Sections 457, 454, and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the night of April 11, 2024, initiating an investigation.
