Several countries, international operators express keen interest in Pakistan airports outsourcing

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has been making a strong push to attract foreign investment in its major airports, with several countries and international operators expressing keen interest.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of promoting this initiative to Pakistani missions abroad, urging them to step up efforts in economic diplomacy and trade relations. He chaired an online meeting with ambassadors to review progress and discuss marketing strategies.
The news comes after a review meeting by the Steering Committee on Outsourcing of Airports. The committee reported significant interest from countries like Turkey, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, particularly in Islamabad International Airport. Additionally, renowned airport operators from Europe, including France, Spain, Germany, UK, and Switzerland, have also shown positive signs.
This initiative aims to improve service quality at Pakistani airports. The meeting reviewed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks prepared by global consultants to ensure successful outsourcing.
Foreign Minister Dar has directed the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to complete the outsourcing process for Lahore and Karachi airports within the designated timeframe. The IFC reported strong interest from foreign investors for the bidding process of Islamabad International Airport.
