Sheikh Rasheed has called on lawmakers to introduce a no-confidence motion against the Speaker of the National Assembly

Former federal minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed challenged National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq to resign if he still had any sense of conscience. Rashid urged lawmakers to consider submitting a no-confidence motion against Sadiq.

Speaking to reporters, Rashid criticized the way lawmakers were detained, comparing it unfavorably to the handling of drug dealers. He reiterated his earlier prediction of a ‘new set-up’ by September 30 and expressed frustration with the government over high power bills, which he said were worsening the plight of the poor.

Rashid also called for the release of laborers involved in May 9 cases and expressed disappointment that some long-time friends had turned against him. However, he chose not to comment on KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur’s recent remarks about taking matters into his own hands to get former Prime Minister Imran Khan released from jail.
