Sindh Govt Allocates Rs 177.517 Million to Enhance Police Mobility and Strength
Karachi: The Sindh government has approved a budget allocation of Rs 177.517 million to bolster the capabilities and mobility of the provincial police force. This decision, announced following a meeting of the Provincial Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah at the Chief Minister's House, underscores the government's commitment to enhancing law enforcement efforts across the province.
According to official statement, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized the imperative of collaborative action between the police and other law enforcement agencies to intensify operations against street criminals, raw material robbers, and drug mafias operating in Karachi and throughout Sindh. He reiterated directives from President Asif Zardari to prioritize the restoration of law and order during a crucial meeting at the Chief Minister House.
The Home Department apprised the Cabinet of ongoing efforts by various law enforcement entities, including the Sindh Police, Safe Cities Authority, and Sindh Forensic Science Laboratory, to procure vehicles essential for operational effectiveness. Highlighting the urgent need for vehicle procurement, the Cabinet directed the Home Department to allocate funds for the purchase of 405 vehicles for the Sindh Police, amounting to Rs 177.514 million.
CM Murad Ali Shah commended his government's initiatives to equip the police force with advanced weaponry, ammunition, competitive salary packages, and vehicles to enhance their stability and mobility. He lauded the efforts of law enforcement personnel in restoring law and order, expressing confidence in their continued dedication to public safety.
In addition to police strengthening measures, the Cabinet addressed public welfare concerns, approving the release of funds to sustain the People's Bus Service subsidy at a fare of Rs 50 until June 30, 2024. Furthermore, funds were allocated to settle dues for 90 additional buses purchased under the NRTC scheme.
The Cabinet also endorsed additional funding for the School Education Department to ensure the provision of free textbooks from Kindergarten to 10th standard for the academic year 2024-25. A directive was issued for an audit of the Sindh Textbook Board, emphasizing accountability and transparency in financial management.
