Sindh High Court Issues Notices Over Alleged Overpayment for Surgical Robots
Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh government, Health Department, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, and other relevant parties regarding a petition challenging the excessive cost of surgical robots.
The petition claims that Liaquat Medical University is purchasing surgical robots from a private company at $400,000 each, despite their actual value being $37,000. Payments for these robots are reportedly being made in Dubai. The university had issued a tender for these robots, which led to the selection of the said company.
The petitioner argues that the tender should be annulled, citing a potential loss of billions to the national treasury. The court has instructed the concerned parties to respond by August 29.
