Sindh police chief announces test-based system for SHO appointments in Karachi

KARACHI, Mar 27: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon announced the activation of a test-based system for appointing Station House Officers (SHOs) to improve police leadership and professionalism in Karachi police stations.
This new system emphasizes meritocracy by establishing a pool of qualified officers who have passed a rigorous selection process. The pool will be comprised of Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors who hold the University Service Commission (USC) qualification and demonstrate a good reputation within the force.
"This initiative ensures that only the most competent and deserving officers are entrusted with the critical responsibility of leading police stations," stated IG Memon. Notably, the system allows currently posted SHOs and previously test-passed officers to participate in the new assessment. Those who fail to meet the USC qualification will be transitioned out of SHO positions.
This policy signifies a significant shift towards a meritocratic approach to police leadership in Sindh, emphasizing qualifications and performance over other considerations.
