Special Grant of 6.25 Million Rupees Approved for Pakistan Hockey Team's Olympic Qualifiers

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: In a boost for the Pakistan hockey team, a special grant of 6.25 million rupees has been sanctioned to facilitate their participation in the qualifiers leading up to the Paris Olympics.

Sources reveal that the national team is currently undergoing rigorous training in Islamabad in preparation for the Paris Olympics. The crucial qualifiers are scheduled to take place in Muscat, Oman, starting January 15.

Following the Olympic qualifiers, the national team is set to compete in the five-a-side Hockey World Cup in the third week of January.

The initiative to secure funding for the national team's participation in major events was spearheaded by the Pakistan Sports Board. The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet subsequently greenlit a special grant of Rs 10 crore to support the hockey affairs.

Additionally, the approved funds will cover the expenses for the arrangements of the upcoming Davis Cup tie between Pakistan and India, slated for February 3 in Islamabad. Allocation has also been made for the Prime Minister's program, Mind Games.
