SSP suspends two police officials for Harassing Minority Permit Holders
RAWALPINDI, April 04: Two police officials from the Civil Line police station in Rawalpindi have been suspended following allegations of harassing permit holders liquor purchasers belonging to minorities.
The incident occurred near a five-star hotel on Mall Road, where officers reportedly set up barriers and stopped individuals for checks. Complaints arose that these checks specifically targeted permit holders who were carrying liquor purchased from the hotel.
A video of the encounter has surfaced online, showing a heated exchange between the police officers and a female excise inspector who arrived at the scene upon receiving complaints. The inspector reportedly reprimanded the officers for their actions.
According to reports, permit holders further alleged that the police were obstructing them from entering dates on excise documents and threatening them with baseless cases.
Taking strict action, SSP Operations Rawalpindi, Hafiz Kamran Asghar, suspended the two officers involved. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against them, including Ali Raza, who is named in reports
