The IHC has granted bail to more than 120 PTI workers who were arrested during the November 26 protest

In a significant development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted bail to over 120 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who were detained during the November 26 protest. The court’s decision paves the way for their immediate release.

A bench led by Acting Chief Justice Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif presided over the bail petitions, with prominent lawyers including Ali Bukhari, Babar Awan, and Murtaza Toori representing the detainees.

The court ruled in favor of the workers’ bail, subject to them submitting an affidavit at their local police station. This affidavit serves as a commitment to refrain from engaging in similar actions in the future. The bail was granted against surety bonds of PKR 20,000, and authorities were instructed to release all detained workers without delay.

This decision follows a series of arrests during the November 26 protest, and reflects a step toward resolving the legal cases that followed. As the workers prepare for their release, many see the ruling as a temporary yet significant chapter in the ongoing legal and political struggles surrounding the PTI party.
