Hajj applications extended by 10 days in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 12 (INP): The Federal Minister of Religious Affairs, Aneeq Ahmed, announced on Tuesday that the deadline for Hajj applications under both the regular and sponsorship schemes is being extended by 10 days. This decision comes despite the government's recent reduction in the Hajj package by Rs 100,000, which aimed to incentivize more applications.
"We are extending the duration for Hajj applications by 10 days," Minister Ahmed stated, expressing surprise at the low response received thus far. "This applies to both regular and sponsored applicants."
The minister further elaborated that the exact extension date will be announced later today. This move is aimed at boosting the number of applications and ensuring wider participation in the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage.
While the reason for the low initial response remains unclear, some potential factors include the ongoing economic uncertainty in Pakistan and concerns surrounding the recent lifting of the 5-year ban on repeat Hajj pilgrims.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs is urging all eligible individuals who still wish to apply for Hajj to do so within the extended deadline. The exact new deadline will be announced shortly, so interested applicants should stay informed through official channels.
