Punjab Govt sets sights on UAE market with high-protein fodder exports

LAHORE, Dec 19 : The Punjab government on Wednesday has made a significant decision to export high-protein fodder to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), aiming to enhance livestock development.

In a special meeting chaired by the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, various measures were approved to boost the cultivation of high-protein "Alfa Alfa" fodder. The discussions during the meeting included plans to provide farmers with seeds for cultivating "Alfa Alfa" fodder and explored proposals related to "Braidan Seed Nation" for the advancement of dairy development.

The briefing highlighted the positive outcomes of establishing a disease-free compartment in Punjab, emphasizing the importance of leveraging modern technology and local expertise for livestock development. Encouraging local farms to adopt model farming techniques was also a key point of discussion.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi stressed the need to fully activate the food research center in Sargodha to increase the production of high-protein fodder. He underscored the importance of harnessing the full potential to boost the export of beef and mutton, citing discussions during his visit to the UAE regarding the export of high-protein fodder.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Secretary Agriculture, Secretary Wildlife, Secretary Livestock, Secretary Transport, and other officials.
