Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain join forces, agree to contest elections together

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League (Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain have decided to join forces and fight the upcoming elections together. In a meeting that lasted for an hour and a half, the two leaders discussed seat adjustments and agreed that the PML-N will not field candidates against Tariq Bashir Cheema and Chaudhry Salik.

The meeting was also attended by senior leaders from both parties, including Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazir Tarar, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, and Tariq Bashir Cheema.

Sources close to the meeting said that Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain demanded that the PML-N give his party more seats, including Gujarat, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad. While there was no immediate response from Nawaz Sharif, it was agreed that a joint committee will be formed to discuss all issues.

The two parties have also agreed to call a meeting of the National Assembly soon.

This alliance is seen as a major boost for the opposition parties in Pakistan, as they prepare to challenge the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the upcoming elections.
