Smog Grips Punjab as Lahore Tops Global Pollution List
Lahore: The Punjab province of Pakistan continues to battle severe smog, with Lahore leading the world in air pollution. The city's air quality index (AQI) stands at a critical 316, significantly exceeding safe limits.
Karachi, though marginally better, still suffers from poor air quality with an AQI of 244. This places it second on the global list of polluted cities.
Meanwhile, the cold wave persists across northern and central Balochistan. Quetta recorded a bone-chilling minus 2 degrees Celsius, while Kalat, Ziarat, and Barkhan experienced even harsher temperatures of minus 3 and minus 5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The ongoing smog crisis and plummeting temperatures raise concerns for public health and necessitate immediate action to address the environmental issues plaguing the region.
