Uproar in Punjab Assembly Halts Supplementary Budget Approval

Lahore: The Punjab Assembly failed to approve the supplementary budget due to intense commotion and protests from opposition members.
Chaos erupted during Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's speech, with opposition members shouting slogans and causing disruption. The uproar forced Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan to postpone the budget approval process, expressing his intent to maintain order in future sessions using his constitutional authority.
The session has been adjourned until 2 pm tomorrow.
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari condemned the opposition's behavior, stating, "We remained civil during our time in opposition. What happened during the Chief Minister's address is regrettable." She emphasized that while the opposition is given all privileges, any future disruptions will be met with similar responses.
