Weather Update: Rain, Gusty Winds Expected in KP, Punjab; Heatwave to Persist in Sindh, Balochistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting rain and strong winds across several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, while hot and dry weather is expected to continue in Sindh and Balochistan.

Rain Likely in Upper KP, Northern Punjab

According to the PMD, isolated rain and windstorms are expected in upper KP districts including *Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Battagram, with potential for similar conditions in Peshawar, Swabi, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Kohat, Karak, and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Punjab, showers accompanied by strong winds are likely in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum. Central and northeastern areas such as Lahore, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Jhang, and Bhakkar may also receive brief spells of rain, providing some relief from ongoing heat conditions.

Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy, with chances of rain and gusty winds in isolated spots.

Sindh and Balochistan Remain in Heatwave Grip

The weather across most of  Sindh is forecast to remain extremely hot and dry, especially in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana, with dusty winds anticipated during the afternoon hours.

Similar conditions will persist in Balochistan, where the majority of districts continue to experience high temperatures and arid weather. No significant rainfall activity is expected in the region.

Public Advisory Issued

The PMD has urged citizens to take necessary precautions, particularly in areas forecast to experience *strong winds and dust storms*, which may affect visibility and transport. Farmers and daily commuters are advised to stay updated on local forecasts due to rapidly changing weather patterns.
