Zero Tolerance for Smog-Causing Kilns and Factories in Punjab: Maryam Aurangzeb

KASUR: Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb Declared Zero Tolerance For Environmental Law Violations, Reinforcing Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's stringent environmental policies. During her visit to Kasur, Aurangzeb oversaw the demolition of kilns operating without the mandated zigzag technology, which are major contributors to smog.
"Action will be taken against anything causing smog," Aurangzeb stated emphatically, highlighting the closure of polluting kilns and factories. She affirmed that no kiln will be permitted to function without meeting zigzag technology standards across Punjab.
Underlining the government's commitment to an eco-friendly policy, she announced a ban on plastic bags and ongoing operations against smoke-emitting vehicles. "People suffer from diseases due to cost-cutting measures by some. There will be no exceptions; even influential polluters will face action," she asserted.
Aurangzeb reported significant progress, with 640 kilns in Kasur already converted to zigzag technology and another 15 slated for conversion soon. Operations are also targeting leather-burning factories in Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Kasur. "All state institutions must fulfill their responsibility together," she concluded.
